Health Guidelines For Reiki, Sound Healing & Sound Massage

At Found in Sound, your wellbeing is at the heart of everything we offer. While sound and energy therapies are safe and beneficial for many, there are a few health considerations to be mindful of.

Please read the following carefully before booking. If you're unsure whether a session is right for you, feel free to contact us — we're happy to guide you.

REIKI

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that works with your body’s own energy. It is generally safe for most people. However, we recommend extra care or medical consultation if you:

-
Have a pacemaker
-
Are living with a serious mental health condition
Otherwise, Reiki is safe to receive at any time, including during illness, recovery, or pregnancy.
SOUND HEALING - IN PERSON / GROUP

Sound healing encourages deep rest, emotional release, and self-awareness. That said, you should avoid or seek professional advice before participating if you:

-
Are pregnant in the first trimester
-
Have a pacemaker or implanted medical devices
-
Have metal implants in the body (please check with your doctor)
-
Experience sound-induced or severe seizures
-
Are living with a serious mental health condition
SOUND MASSAGE FOR ONE - IN PERSON

Sound massage involves placing therapeutic bowls directly on and around the body to transmit vibration through the tissues. Because of this, it is not suitable if you:

-
Have a slipped, herniated, or bulging disc
-
Have had recent spinal surgery
If you have metal in your spine, we may also need to proceed with caution. In these cases, we recommend considering an alternative 1:1 offering — such as Reiki or a non-contact sound healing session, which are gentler options and do not involve direct contact with the spine.
ONLINE SOUND JOURNEY FOR ONE / GONG IMMERSIONS
While online sound baths do not produce the same physical vibrations as in-person sessions, pregnancy is a time of heightened sensitivity — particularly in the first trimester. Although many find these sessions calming and supportive, we advise that pregnant clients consult with their midwife or healthcare provider before attending. You’re always welcome to contact us to discuss your individual needs.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS AND GUIDELINES

-
Hearing Aids: Please remove them before a session, as sound frequencies may cause feedback or discomfort. You’ll still receive the vibrational benefits.

-
Severe Injuries or Medical Procedures: Group sessions involve lying on the floor for up to an hour. If this isn't comfortable for you, please let us know — we can discuss Reiki or other options better suited to your recovery stage.

-
Recent Trauma / PTSD: Sound and Reiki can bring up strong emotions or memories. If you've experienced trauma recently, please reach out beforehand and ensure you have support in place. Your emotional safety is important to us.
IMPORTANT NOTE

By booking a group sound immersion with Laura & Tom, or a private session, you acknowledge that you’ve read and understood these Health Guidelines and that you take part at your own discretion. You will be asked to confirm this on your booking form, and medical history form if you're booking a session for one. If you're unsure about any aspect, please reach out to us.

Sound healing and Reiki are complementary therapies and form part of a holistic health program. They are not a replacement for professional medical or mental health care. Always consult your doctor, midwife, or licensed health practitioner regarding any medical concerns.
